ME2T-PRO-II & ME2HT-PRO-II Setup before first operation

1.    We deliver your transverter by your request. Basically transverter is ready to use you need to connect it your radio and  run.

2.    If you have second hand transverter or you need to set to another type radio you follow the next instructions:

• Open the transverter by removing the top cover ( 8  #2 imbus screws)
   

• Set the red jumpers on base the following table:

3. Connect to transverter the following cables, made/check the settings:

• 13.8V/5.5A ( 10A if -HT version) stabilized PS, and cables.
• 2m antenna or linear amplifier
• If you ordered the transverter with separate 2m RX input, connect the RX antenna to the second N (RX)connector.
  (The 2nd RX input SMA red marked -inside TVTR box)
• Transverter SND output jack to linear PTT input ( +50V, 1A max) (red RCA)
• Radio SND( GND on TX, or open collector) output to transverter PTT input.( black RCA)
• IF cable(s) btn radio TVTR IF output, radio RX input ( 50 Ohm BNC/RCA or similar type)
• Switch ON your radio and set it to transverter mode,select the IF frequency, 14or 28MHz ( check radio documentation)
• Switch ON the transverter, set front page PWR knob left clockwise.
• The base noise on radio will increase.You can set the RX gain by RX potmeter on transverter unit if it necessary.(factory set 23dB gain)
• Set your radio to CW mode and push the transmit button. The red TX led on transverter starts to lit, never use the RF VOX switch to TX!
• Give continous carrier and check the output PWR on transverter led bargraph. Set the frontpage PWR pot. right clockwise.
• Set the transverter input potmeter( accross the top cover slots- you can reach it easy) and set the output PWR just up to 30W ( 50w -HT vers)
• If the transverter used before with low IF level and now with high power IF input,( max 5W!) you need to set the TX potmeter on transverter
  unit. Set the input power att to middle position and set TX potmeter just up to nominal output power on the bargraph.If the transverter used before
  with high power IF input, you need to check also the TX potmeter and you need to set it up to nominal output PWR.
• IF you using very low IF output level radios( IC7600,IC7700 or similar -20dBm IF output types) You need the jump ON the transverter IF preamplifier.Set every (3)jumpers to ON position.(center pin to ON) If ready set the output power the nominal value by the described procedure.
• If you using HIGH POWER(5w) IF output radio and 1x IF cable mode dont forget switch ON transverter or disconnect the IF cable from radio.
  Use ANT output  on your radio if  you want to use your radio on HF bands. If the PTT cable disconnected or the TVTR is OFF and you transmit with your radio,
  the 5W output power can kill transverter IF amplifier! Don't forget to reduce the radio output power to 5W if you using the transverter!
   

 4. Operation with ME14-X or ME28-X crystal preselector.

    You can use this RX/TX filters easy with ME2T-PRO-II and ME2HT-PRO-II transverters:In case single IF cable mode remove the J1 jumper inside the  crystal filter, connect the IFin BNC connector of transverter to filter RXin BNC.    the filter RXout connect your radio common RX/TX  connector. Connect the PTT1 RCA to radio SEND output. ( max IF level 5mW!!!)

        If you using 2x IF cable connect the filter TX output connect to transverter IFin connector, the RXin connect to IFout connector with short 50 Ohm 
        cable. The filter connecting to radio low level IF output, the RXout to radio RX input connector. Connect the filter PTT1 input to radio SEND output.  Use simple 2x diodes switch box to put parallel the transverter and filter PTT lines.
